JUNIOR LEAGUE HONORS PARTNERSHIP WITH YWCA

The Junior League of Toledo celebrated more than a half century of work with the YWCA of Northwest Ohio at a ceremony early in October, presenting the YWCA with its 2018 “Community Partnership” award. The Junior League’s award commemorates its partnership with the YWCA on programs that, since 1966, have supported teens, children, and victims of domestic violence. The programs have helped establish a volunteer program for teens, assisted women dependent on drugs and alcohol, and assisted in providing services to women and their children who are victims of domestic violence. The Junior League is an organization of women, which, since 1933, has committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained women. The two organizations’ historic partnership is grounded in the common elements of their missions, says Lisa McDuffie, CEO of the YWCA of Northwest Ohio. “Both of us seek to empower women and give them tools to live productive, meaningful lives.”
