Racism affects every community and every person’s quality of life. It shows up in inequities between groups and in tensions among individuals from different ethnic backgrounds.
In order to have healthy communities and a strong country, we need to face racism head-on. In a democracy, there must be ways for everyone to have a voice in finding the solutions and in carrying them out.
YWCA Dialogue to Change was developed by the late Reverend Karen Shepler and Toledo Community Coalition in an effort to address institutional racism. Groups may meet for six consecutive weeks for 90 minutes per session or participate in a Day of Dialogue for eight hours.
YWCA Dialogue Groups are led by two impartial, trained facilitators who help manage the discussion and look at racism from many points of view.
