YWCA CHILD CARE PROGRAM RECOGNIZED FOR BUSINESS SUCCESS TRAINING

The YWCA’s Child Care Resource and Referral department (CCR&R) is one of four such programs across the country that were recognized for having developed and delivered business training programs for operators of day care programs. Most child care operators have training in early childhood education, says Erin Holleran, who coordinates the local CCR&R Business Success  Institute. The YWCA CCR&R has developed a number of programs that help child care program owners and administrators strengthen their knowledge of business practices that contribute to their program’s operating success.The YWCA’s CCR&R department has developed a set of questionnaires that help identify a child care provider’s business knowledge. Providers can then work with a specialist to determine which business program is best  tailored to their own needs. Programs focus on such areas as financial management, marketing, human resources, and administration.Program participants may be eligible for as many as 22 hours of Ohio Approved training needed to meet Step Up to Quality training requirements. A Step Up to Quality rating is required for providers seeking to participate in the state’s child care reimbursement program.The YWCA’s CCR&R business success network was identified as a best practice by Child Care Aware, a national organization that works with more than 400 state and local Child Care Resource and Referral agencies nationwide. Child Care Aware leads projects that increase the quality and availability of child care, undertakes research, and advocates child care policies that positively impact the lives of children and families.
